The SpecFicNZ Launch

Ever feel like you are writing from a deserted island?

Come and meet other writers who write what you write, live where you live, and are determined to put New Zealand on the world’s speculative fiction map. Join us for the official launch of New Zealand’s new SF/F/H writer’s association at Au Contraire in Wellington on Saturday, August 28th 2010 from 6pm-7pm.

Among other things, we will be celebrating the official unveiling of this website, opening to membership with an incredible Special Launch Price, and having multiple free book draws.

Attendance or membership at the Con is not required to attend this event, but there are many events of interest to spec fic writers at the Con worth staying for. Either way, we would appreciate your RSVP via our Facebook Event Page so that we can have some idea of numbers. And don’t be shy in showing up even if you forget to RSVP.

We’d love to see you there.

  1. Just popped over after listening to the Women on Air interview with Ripley – nice work!

  2. Sadly, I can’t be at the launch–but I wish you all the best for it. And I am a definite ‘starter’ for membership! 🙂

  3. Darn I wish that I lived in Wellington, or that I had found out about this sooner so I could have organized to come down! I’ve had my head in my book for so long I haven’t been very ‘up with’ events going on! This is great news though!

  4. The launch event was huge fun. Au Contraire was a blast. Congratulations to Ripley Patton on winning a Sir Julius Vogel award!

  5. The launch was great, guys! Congrats on creating such a great site and congrats to Ripley for the award!
