The launch of Helen Lowe’s new book The Gathering of the Lost was held at the University Bookshop at Canterbury University. It went very well, with maybe 70 people in attendance. Brief introductory comments were made by Philip King (the owner of UBS), Christina Stachurski (of the English Department), and Andrew Robins (Helen’s partner). Then Helen talked about the challenges of writing a book from within an earthquake zone, and thanked the people who had helped her achieve it. Her talk was bookended with brief readings from the novel.
