SpecFicNZ will be at the NZ Book Festival TOMORROW(Saturday 17th of November)!

We’ll have copies of Te Korero Ahi Ka, hosted by members Grace Bridges and Jennifer Rackham with their books, and in the afternoon we’ll be joined by Mike Reeves-McMillan. Darian Smith and Zee Southcombe will also be there with stands of their own. Get all your book-lovers’ Christmas gifts at once…

Calling all Dunedin Residents!

Dunedin Fantasy author Kura Carpenter is the newly (self)appointed area coordinator for Dunedin members of SpecficNZ.

Kura is in the process of setting up the Dunedin Speculative Fiction Writers’ Group, a proactive group whose aim is to promote and support local writers of speculative fiction.

Worldcon 2020 needs you!

You probably already know that New Zealand was selected as the site for the 2020 World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon). Jacinda can tell you all about it.

(Takes off glasses) As you know, Bob, the World Science Fiction Society doesn’t actually organise Worldcons. For any given year there will be one or more bids to run Worldcon in a future year. Attendees of the current year’s Worldcon vote on which bid will win. The New Zealand delegation won the bid for Worldcon 2020 in August this year.
