Yes, it’s that time of the year again!

No, not Valentine’s Day. Leave that to the florists and the chocolatiers of the world. We’re talking about the second annual Twitter Love Contest!

You know the deal. Send us your sauciest, sexiest, swooniest snippets of romantic microfiction, tempered with however much of the paranormal or fantastical or other Spec Fic element you can slip in, to a maximum of 140 characters, and you’ll be in with a chance to win fame and fortune and prizes.

What’s the swag this time, you say? Well, that’s up to you. For this year’s contest, SpecFicNZ want to bring YOU the love.

The three winning microfictions of the Twitter Love 2013 Contest will each win a credit, which SpecFicNZ will then use to purchase any book or books from our members’ catalogue that your heart desires, and get it travelling your way, if it is to be found in this dimension and can be purchased with your winning credit. If possible, we will even try to get that book signed by the author, if they are also to be found in this dimension.

First prize will be a credit of up to $50NZD, second prize will win a credit of up to $40NZD, and third place will take away a credit worth up to $30NZD. Not bad for 140 characters.

The Rules are simple: Entries must be no more than 140 characters long in total, and must contain both a romantic and a speculative fiction element to qualify. All entries should be sent to [email protected], no later than midnight, Thursday March 7th 2013. (NOTE: the deadline has now been extended to Tuesday April 2nd 2013). Entry is open to all, membership is not a requirement. You can enter as many times as you like. By entering, you are granting SpecFicNZ permission to publish your microfiction anonymously in the voting form which will be open to the public for three weeks from April 8th – April 29th, and in other forms thereafter with full credit to the authors for the winning pieces, for the sake of sharing your awesomeness with the world.

But wait, that’s not all! If you’re a member, now is the time to log in to the website and make sure that you’ve loaded details of your published works into our Featured Member’s Books and Featured Works sections. Because we want our lucky winners to know all about your books when they get to choose their prizes.

So go on, get fondling your keyboards. There is love to be made.
