‘Decide and halt!’ Threatens the infiltrator. Puffing frost, I dangle the upgrade chip over the crest of the chill ledge.

It’s #SpecFicShorts time again! Write a 20-word story incorporating the five words below, and maybe you’ll win enough glory to keep you warm through this week’s cold snap.
This week’s words are:
Chip; crest; chill; halt; decide
A winner will be chosen around 7pm tonight.

A tough decision as always, but someone’s got to make it – congratulations to this week’s winner, Dave Catt!
“He’d harp on, and eventually they’d open the hatch. Lost on this drought planet; couldn’t winkle out where they’d crashed.”

Winkle took up the harp and considered revenge. Lost in thought by the open wormhole the idea came suddenly, drought!

The drought of silence forced us to winkle open the gateway and seek the harp. Seems it was purposefully lost.

The drought between tides, like a sirens harp, until the winkle bakes open and all is lost.

The lost girl, Winkle, played her harp; eyes open despite shimmering light surrounding her, and she conjured away the drought.

Those were all excellent entries and it was tough to judge. But in the end, there can be only one champion, and this week it is Lee Murray with her lovely tale of a man on a mission. Congratulations, Lee, and hooray for all the wonderful entries!

We pitch it in the boot.
Usually a dive, our goal’s to keep the car clean.

Her goal unknown. Into the foul pitch she did dive. We only ever found her boot.

@marie passed me the ball, so I’m running in to head up this week’s round of #SpecFicShorts!
You know the rules: use the five words below to craft a super-short, 20-words-or-less speculative story. I’ll pick the winner sometime this evening.
This game’s words are:
dive; foul; pitch; goal; boot

I think proper writers had their fingers frozen to their keyboards, while I stuffed around beneath the lunchroom heat-pump. :\
A lunchroom heat-pump! Luxury! Here at SpecFicNZ we have only cats to keep our hands from freezing off. And even then only sometimes.
Hehehe. Then may all your moggys be fluffy and nearby. 🙂
