So my debut novel Voiceless releases July 11th from American small press Atthis Arts. It’s YA urban SF set in Timaru. Obviously I’d love it if you could help spread the word and/or buy a copy. Ebooks and paperbacks will be sold online at all the usual USA-centric places — Amazon, B&N, Kobo, iBooks, etc.
But mostly I’m looking for advice — any tips about getting hardcopies into bookshops in NZ? I’ve sent a few emails out but haven’t had much luck. My publisher reported that the NZ distributors they talked to aren’t taking on new publishers/titles. The book is available through Ingram Global Distribution Group, but Whitcoulls said (paraphrased) the book sounds good but they have approved acquisitions chains through NZ distributors, and it’s too much hassle to add a new one for a single author/book.
Any help here would be hot. Thanks.
First the bad news. You will lose money on a printed book. The mathematics of it is not good. However can I recommend https://writersplotreadersread.wordpress.com/ bookshop. Cat and Caro will at least stock NZ books.
Thanks, Peter. I’ve been in touch with Cat 🙂
