• I’m very happy to report that I’ve just signed a contract with Michael Wills at Digital Fiction Publishing for Realmgolds, the first of the Gryphon Clerks series. We have agreement in principle that DFP will be taking over publication of the other books in the series too, including the as-yet-unpublished Mister Bucket for Assembly and any future…[Read more]

Everyone loves the cover. http://sahuntbooks.com if you want one like it – he’s very reasonable, has a quick turnaround, and is a good guy and an excellent writer himself.

  • In an alternate late-Victorian era, a young woman accompanies her professor father to the Change Storm, the bizarre phenomenon on which he is a world expert. Her father’s assistant expects her to fall into the role of so many other professors’ daughters: someone to explain things to, perhaps rescue, eventually marry, and otherwise ignore. But…[Read more]

  • Just published the first in my new urban fantasy series, Auckland Allies: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01694XVP6/. More in the Jim Butcher/Patricia Briggs/Carrie Vaughn style of action-oriented urban fantasy than the more mystical Charles de Lint kind.

I’m looking for local beta readers for a short (50k) urban-fantasy novel set in Auckland. Ideally I’d like to get at least one kiwi under 30 to look it over, to make sure that I haven’t put outdated slang in the mouths of my characters (who are 20 years younger than I am).

Just reply below if you’re interested – thanks.

  • New online semiprozine The Sockdolager has published my story “Wearing the Hat” in their first issue. They were excellent to deal with, and if you write, as they put it, “genre fiction where Things Happen”, I recommend submitting to them. #news

I picked it up based on the recommendations in this thread, and it’s excellent. I’ve put in my nomination, too.

Apologies for being an hour late – among the fiction in my head was the idea that it started at 2pm, not 1pm. No idea where that came from.
