Articles on “the submissions experience” sought for SpecFicNZ Voice

Do you have experience submitting novels or short stories to professional or semi-pro markets? Do you have any tips to share? Or something you’re still learning?

SpecFicNZ is seeking non-fiction articles about submitting fiction for our newsletter, The SpecFicNZ Voice.

Articles should be no longer than 1,000 words and should be appropriate to the topic “Submissions″. Articles can be reprints or drawn from a blog post, but must be original work authored by you that you currently retain rights to. You may also resubmit articles that have been submitted to us before but weren’t selected at that time.

Possible topics we are interested in (but not limited to) are:

  • Researching markets
  • Personal experience getting works to the submission stage
  • Software and web tools for tracking submissions
  • Preparing manuscripts for submission to agents/editors
  • Writing cover letters and synopses
  • Personal success story about a first publication

SpecFicNZ will pay $25NZ for one selected “feature” article, and may purchase additional articles for the newsletter or website at a similar pay rate.

To submit, e-mail your article in the body of an e-mail with the subject line ‘Submissions Article’ and your last name. The e-mail should also include your personal details and contact information. Please send your submission to specficnz(at)gmail(dot)com.

Submission period for SpecFicNZ members is open until September 23rd 2012. After that time, submissions may be opened up to the general public depending on membership response.
