Links relating to the Hachette/Amazon situation

In case you missed it, there’s a significant battle going on between publisher Hachette and Amazon. The result of whatever backroom negotiations are (or aren’t) happening is that Hachette books are being treated differently on Amazon, with reports of things like pre-order links being removed, competing titles being advertised on book pages and shipping delays.

Here are a few perspectives from around the internet on the issue:

Lilith Saintcrow on how this affects her business as an author (pro-Hachette).

Charlie Stross on Amazon’s business practices and the economics of the situation (anti-Amazon).

JA Konrath rebutting the Stross article (pro-Amazon).

David Gaughran on not knowing the backroom details (fairly balanced, perhaps somewhat pro-Amazon).

Mark Coker with an in-depth analysis from the perspective of a competitor of both Amazon and Hachette (balanced, anti-both).
