SpecFicNZ is sad to farewell two longstanding members of the Core this year. Grace Bridges, who served as president for many years stepped down, as did our webmaster Mat Danaher. We wish them both well and thank them for their years of service to the organisation.

This year, a large part of our focus will be on revamping the SpecFicNZ Constitution, improving our website, and updating our membership and accounting systems. Not terribly fun tasks, but all necessary and overdue. Hopefully, once the changes are in place, it will free the Core to do more of the fun stuff.
Fun stuff we have planned for the upcoming year includes:
- More virtual workshops
- Virtual critique sessions
- Publishing the upcoming anthology (in early 2022)
- Manuscript assessments
- Book reviews
- In-person events like writers’ retreats (Covid-willing–be sure to get vaccinated so we can get back to in-person events as quickly as possible)
