So, sell me on going to Conclave.

At the moment, the website is not achieving that. The writers’ seminar is the only bit I’m at all interested in, and I’m not signing up blind for two three-hour sessions without knowing who the speakers are or what they’re talking about.

    • Yes the website isn’t really a great advertisement for the Conclave is it, LOL. There is a Facebook page where some discussions are happening around panels etc: https://www.facebook.com/groups/259297837528528/321605271297784/?notif_t=group_activity
It seems a little up in the air at the moment, but hopefully we’ll get a full programme soon.

    • The writers’ seminar is being conducted by Dave Freer (as far as I can gather from the info on the Facebook page).

Some SpecFicNZ members (Dan Rabarts and Eileen Mueller come to mind) proposed some panels by and for writers for the Saturday. I’m not sure what’s been accepted by the con committee, though.

Full disclosure: I’m not going this year because the programming just isn’t compelling enough to justify the expense for me. This particular con committee isn’t as writer-focussed as last year’s was, so it has a really different feel this year. That said, I know folks are working on making sure there is some stuff for writers on the Saturday, whether it’s officially a part of the con or not. You can buy a one-day membership to the con for a reduced amount, too.
