This strikes me as a list of SFF by people who don’t actually read SFF. Nothing by Octavia Butler? No _The Sparrow_? No Iain M. Banks? Pish.

The writers’ seminar is being conducted by Dave Freer (as far as I can gather from the info on the Facebook page).
Some SpecFicNZ members (Dan Rabarts and Eileen Mueller come to mind) proposed some panels by and for writers for the Saturday. I’m not sure what’s been accepted by the con committee, though.

I’m planning a SpecFicNZ pub crawl for sometime in May. Probably a Saturday afternoon/evening. Bring your friends and join for whatever part you like.
I’ll be taking suggestions for what our Golden MIle should be – probably starting at the Hop Garden and ending at the Thistle Inn for those who need the train.

Sounds great! I haven’t made it to the Hop Garden yet. Poquito is another neat bar in that end of town, though I’m not sure how busy it would be on a Saturday (and it is, as the name suggests, pretty cosy!).
Yay! Can it be any time other than 14-18 May, which is when the Auckland Writers Festival is on, please?

I’ll probably be there and it looks like there will be at least a half-dozen SpecFicNZers there (probably more). Some folks are trying to organize some writers’ panels and a meet-up for the Saturday.
Hi Darusha, I look forward to meeting you and everyone else from the society. A meet up on Saturday would be great as that’s the day I’ll be there!
