Wellington-based writer Erica Challis left a career as an orchestral horn player to work as a journalist and publicist, after four years as founder and editor of the popular Lord of the Rings fan website TheOneRing.net. She contributed as editor and essayist for The People’s Guide to J R R Tolkien and More People’s Guide to J R R Tolkien, published by Cold Spring Press, and created scripts for Radio New Zealand Concert. Her short stories have appeared in Sport and Takahe, and more recently in the online zine Lemon&Lime.

She is currently working on a series of fantasy science fiction novels that found their genesis as part of her body of work towards a graduate diploma in creative writing at Whitireia.
