Tired of writing in isolation?
Want to meet real, live people passionate about creating science fiction, fantasy, horror, and all the other fantastic genre that falls between the cracks?
Don’t think there is a viable community of speculative fiction writers in New Zealand?
Well, think again.
The SpecFicNZ Core would like to prove otherwise by inviting you all to the first Annual SpecFicNZ Grand Meet-Up to be held at ConTeXT, New Zealand’s 32nd Annual National Science Fiction & Fantasy Convention, 3rd to 6th June 2011, Auckland.
The Grand Meet-Up is not a AGM or a business meeting. It is celebration and a chance for members and writers from both islands to meet face-to-face. There will be a brief presentation by SpecFicNZ President, Ripley Patton, about the progress and future plans of SpecFicNZ. There will also be free give-aways of SpecFicNZ paraphernalia and other good stuff for those in attendance, plus a chance to renew membership or join for a special reduced fee.
Con registration is not required to attend the SpecFicNZ Grand Meet-Up, though we highly encourage you to take advantage of all the ConTeXT programme has to offer, including the two free short story writing workshops being offered by SpecFicNZ veterans, Ripley Patton and Grant Stone.
The Grand Meet-Up will take place on Saturday, June 4th, 2011 at 5pm at The Barrycourt Quality Hotel Auckland, exact room TBA.
Membership in SpecFicNZ not required for attendance. All writers welcome.
We look forward to seeing you there.
