About

Zak Rodgers is the author of Spec-Fic collection The Cure for Gravity (2024) and slam poetry collection Playful Anarchy (2020), awarded $7000 by the Manawatu’s Earle Creativity & Development Trust for the publication of both books.

He is a chaser of every possibility, and every impossibility too. Zak’s work is thematically diverse, but he prefers to write from a place of truth no matter how bonkers the actual events of his stories may get. He firmly believes the world of gods and monsters is surprisingly human, and even stories of fantastical nonsense have a kernel of our very real, very observable, day-to-day lives in them. His dream is to help readers follow the lights in the forest, listen to the voices in the water and ultimately, recognise their own lives laid out before them amongst so much stardust.

Zak has also been published in three of the four Versions anthologies by the Palmerston North City Library (2021-2023), and in cosmic horror anthology Ship of Horrors (2023). His standalone short stories have been shortlisted for Uncharted with the latest of which, ‘Perennial’, slated for release in late 2024 as part of horror anthology Portland.
