Who Are You? Who Who, Are You?

We’ve had so many new members join SpecFicNZ lately and we’re thrilled, but we think you might be missing out on a valuable perk of your membership; YOUR MEMBER PROFILE. If you click on that link, and scroll down, and don’t see your pic and info listed alphabetically that means you don’t have one.

So, you ask eagerly, how do I get one?

Follow the detailed steps outlined below to get yourself on the SpecFicNZ membership map.

First, Click on the For Members Only Tab at the top of the SpecFicNZ website, and enter your ID and password, which you received in your first membership confirmation e-mail. If you have lost the e-mail and/or forgotten your access information, you can e-mail us at specficnz(at)gmail.com with a request and we will resend them to you.

You will then be given a page that says,

  1. View and update your public profile and other information we have on file for you.
  2. Change your password.
  3. Get a SpecFicNZ badge for your website or blog.
  4. Back to SpecFicNZ home page.
  5. Log Out

Click #1 (view and update your profile), and you will be taken to your Membership Information Page.

At the top you will see a sentence that says: This is the information we currently have on file for you. If anything is wrong, please correct it.

Click correct it.

You will then be given a page that says Edit Member Information.

To add or change your Profile Picture, scroll down to the item that says Image. Click Browse and find and upload the image file you want.  If the pic is not the right size, it will be automatically re-sized to fit your profile page, which may result in some white margins around the pic.

Be sure to tick the boxes Show Profile on Website, and Include in Blogroll, if you want your Profile and Blog to be seen by the public.

If you scroll further down you will see a large About Box and that is where you enter content about yourself for your profile. For basic text content, you simply type what you want in the box. For any other content, as in images, links, pics etc, you will need to use HTML code. Joff, our wonderful webmaster, has included some basic HTML code samples at the top (for bold, link, images etc). For more complicated content, you will have to find, copy and paste the HTML code yourself. HTML code for various additions to websites and blogs is pretty easy to find via the internet.

Once you have made all the changes you want, scroll to the bottom of the Edit Member Information Page and click the Update button in the lower right corner.

Then go have a look at your New Member Profile.
